Zayed International Airport Debuts Daily Direct Flights to Berlin

Zayed International Airport (AUH) has inaugurated a new daily, year-round flight service connecting Abu Dhabi and Berlin. The route, operated by an Airbus A320neo, marks the first scheduled direct link between the two capitals within Condor’s operational network.

The expansion is supported by a codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways, which enables passengers to move seamlessly between the two airlines’ networks. Travelers arriving from Berlin can now access Etihad’s broader route map, while those departing from Abu Dhabi gain expanded travel options through Condor’s German and international connections.

Carsten Nørland, Chief Commercial Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, noted that the launch enhances direct connectivity between two globally significant capitals. He emphasized that the partnership between Zayed International Airport, Condor, and Etihad reinforces Abu Dhabi’s status as a major global hub for tourism, commerce, and international trade. It also strengthens the movement of people and supports closer commercial links between Abu Dhabi and Berlin.

The initiative is expected to bolster the tourism sector in Abu Dhabi, according to Haitham Ali Khamis, Acting Director of Tourism Products Development at the Department of Culture and Tourism. Khamis highlighted that Germany remains a key market for the emirate, and this increased accessibility will simplify travel for visitors seeking to explore local cultural and leisure attractions. And improved accessibility will help introduce even more travellers to the unique experiences on offer across the emirate.”, germany has consistently been a valuable source of visitors.

Representing the airline side, Dr. Pierre Dominique Prümm, Chief Commercial Officer at Condor, stated that the cooperation with Etihad allows them to offer guests integrated travel options to Asia, Australia, and Africa. This sentiment was echoed by Lena Havia, Vice President of Alliances & Joint Ventures at Etihad Airways, who described the daily service as a significant expansion of their German footprint. Etihad currently operates 35 flights per week in Germany, including a established Frankfurt–Abu Dhabi route, with plans to introduce further services as the airline partnership continues to develop. And a partnership we look forward to growing.”, this is a valuable addition to what we offer in Germany.
