Megan Schutt Handed Two-Match Ban Over Prescription Medication Breach

Australian fast bowler Megan Schutt has received a two-match suspension from all international and domestic cricket following a breach involving prescription medication. Cricket Australia confirmed that the disciplinary action stems from a failure to follow protocol under its Sports Science and Sports Medicine guidelines during an out-of-competition period.

According to Cricket Australia’s official statement, the sanction relates to a single out-of-competition incident that was not intended for performance enhancement. The governing body stated that the breach involved non-compliance with established medical regulations, adding that it will continue supporting the player while maintaining standard responsibilities across the sport. We will continue to provide appropriate support to Megan and reinforce the standards and responsibilities expected of everyone representing our game,” it added.

As a result of the ban, the 33-year-old pacewoman is set to sit out the third and final T20I against New Zealand at North Sydney Oval on Thursday, October 22. Additionally, Schutt will miss the Adelaide Strikers’ WBBL 2026 season-opening fixture against the Melbourne Stars scheduled for October 31.

Accepting the sanction, Schutt expressed regret for failing to uphold expected standards. She noted that while the incident was non-performance-related and occurred out of competition, she remains fully responsible for adhering to the sports science protocols provided to players through ongoing education programs.
