CSK and SRH Finalize Major Four-Player IPL Trade Deal

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have executed a significant four-player trade, as confirmed by the BCCI on Thursday, November 5. The deal sees England international Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards moving to the Chennai franchise, while fast bowlers Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis head to Hyderabad. Was the first to report that CSK were exploring the option of bringing in Livingstone.
Livingstone, who joined SRH for INR 13 crore during the IPL 2025 mini-auction, will transition to CSK at a reduced price point of INR 6 crore. The batter, a former title winner with RCB in 2025, made only two appearances for SRH during the subsequent campaign. Alongside him, Jack Edwards joins the CSK roster at his existing contract value of INR 3 crore; notably, Edwards did not participate in any matches during the 2026 IPL season. Edwards, on the other hand, did not get a game in IPL 2026.
For the Sunrisers, the trade brings back two bowlers previously hampered by injury issues. Nathan Ellis had been signed by CSK for INR 2 crore to serve as a designated death bowler following the departure of Matheesha Pathirana. However, he was ruled out for the entire 2026 season after sustaining a hamstring injury at the domestic One-Day Cup final, eventually forcing the team to sign Spencer Johnson as his replacement. Ellis makes a return to the franchise he originally represented between 2018 and 2021.
Khaleel Ahmed also joins the Hyderabad squad after a stint with CSK, where he played five matches last season before a quadriceps injury ended his campaign prematurely. This multi-player exchange marks a significant roster restructuring for both teams ahead of future tournament cycles.
