Parvinder Awana Named Chairperson of Junior Selection Committee

Former India fast bowler Parvinder Awana has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Junior Selection Committee. During his playing career, Awana featured in two T20 Internationals for India and made 62 first-class appearances, claiming 191 wickets. Beyond his international duties, he represented Delhi, India A, and the Rest of India, while also competing in 33 games across the Indian Premier League for Kings XI Punjab, now known as the Punjab Kings. Since retiring, he has transitioned into a coaching career, contributing to Delhi’s U16, U19, and U23 squads, along with the India U19 setup and various BCCI and Centre of Excellence high-performance initiatives.

Joining Awana on the committee is Krishna Das, a former pacer for Assam and Goa who took 166 wickets across 49 first-class matches. Having previously played for India U19 and India A, Das brings significant experience in development roles, including stints as the India U19 bowling coach and a bowling coach for the Uttarakhand Ranji Trophy squad.

The selection panel also features Rakesh Patel, who played for Gujarat and Baroda throughout his career. Patel’s domestic resume includes participation in the Duleep, Deodhar, and Irani trophies, alongside his involvement with India A. As a coach, he has worked across U19, U23, and senior levels for Baroda and Gujarat, most recently serving as the head coach for the Baroda U23 team during the 2025-26 season.

Arjun Yadav rounds out the committee, bringing with him a resume that includes 83 first-class matches and a member status in the victorious 2000 India U19 World Cup squad. Having represented India A, Yadav transitioned to coaching after his playing tenure with Hyderabad, where he eventually became the head coach for both their senior and U23 teams. Since 2022, he has served as a BCCI Match Referee.
