Sheikh Saud Honours Guangzhou Students for RAK-Inspired Art

During a recent visit to Guangzhou in China’s Guangdong Province, Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, held a ceremony to celebrate 12 students. These young artists were recognized as winners of the ‘My Ras Al Khaimah – Where Mountains Meet the Sea’ competition for their creative interpretations of the Emirate.

The students drew from their research and imaginations to depict the essence of the region. Their works featured a blend of traditional and natural elements, including historical forts, local sailing vessels, mangroves, deserts, and native wildlife such as falcons and gazelles. By incorporating symbols of heritage alongside modern sights like hot air balloons, the participants provided a fresh, artistic lens through which to view the spirit of Ras Al Khaimah.

Reflecting on the students’ creative efforts, Sheikh Saud stated that the collection offered him a unique view of the Emirate through the eyes of the younger generation in China. He noted that art serves as a universal language capable of building connections before people even meet, serving as a foundation for a friendship that matures as children grow.

This initiative served as a core component of a broader cultural exchange effort designed to foster stronger ties between the UAE and China. By emphasizing the role of artistic expression, the program aims to bridge geographical gaps and build enduring relationships between the youth of Ras Al Khaimah and those in Guangdong Province.
