Sharjah Launches Three New Bus Routes to Etihad Rail

Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has expanded its public transport network with the introduction of three dedicated bus routes designed to connect commuters directly to the Etihad Rail station in Al Dhaid. This initiative aims to improve regional mobility by better integrating the emirate’s existing bus infrastructure with the national railway system.

The service expansion introduces three distinct lines: Route ER1, starting from Al Madam Bus Station; Route ER2, departing from Al Sajaa Bus Station; and Route ER3, which originates at Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah City. These routes are intended to streamline access to the rail facility from major urban and industrial hubs across the emirate.

Travel times vary by route, with the trip from Al Sajaa on Route ER2 estimated at 43 minutes. Route ER1, which connects Al Madam to the rail station, takes approximately one hour, while the journey from Al Jubail on Route ER3 lasts one hour and 42 minutes. Route ER1 includes stops at several key locations, including Al Madam Sports Club, Al Madam Health Centre, Al Bahayes, Mleiha, Victoria International School, Al Dhaid Industrial Area, Al Dhaid Mall, and the local Civil Defence Station. Route ER2 services the Al Batayeh area as well as the Al Dhaid police and civil defence facilities, whereas Route ER3 provides a direct connection between Al Jubail and the rail station.

Regarding frequency, Route ER1 and Route ER2 are both served by 12 daily trips. The schedule for Route ER1 from Al Madam begins with departures at 6:40am, 8:50am, 9:50am, 11:20am, 12:30pm, 2:50pm, 3:20pm, 5pm, 5:50pm, 8pm, 8:40pm, and 10:50pm. Similarly, Route ER2 operations from Al Sajaa commence at 6:40am and run throughout the day until the final departure at 8:55pm.

Route ER3 offers a slightly less frequent service with six scheduled trips daily. Buses depart from Al Jubail Station at 6:40am, 9:50am, 12:30pm, 2:50pm, 5:50pm, and 8pm. By aligning these bus schedules with the needs of rail passengers, the authority seeks to create a more cohesive and efficient transit network for the public.
