Sharjah Ruler Orders Immediate Land Transfer to Legal Heirs

Sharjah Ruler Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi has issued a directive to the Sharjah Department of Town Planning & Survey (SDTPS) to immediately transfer government-granted land to the rightful heirs. The instruction, shared during the Direct Line radio programme with Sharjah Broadcasting Authority Director General Mohammed Khalaf, addresses a grievance from a citizen whose brother passed away without children or a spouse.
The caller explained that her late brother held a partnership in a petrol station and associated properties. Despite presenting official court documentation as required by the SDTPS, the department failed to process the land transfer to the heirs. Sheikh Sultan intervened to ensure the legal transition of these assets proceeds without further administrative obstacles. The land was supposed to be transferred to his heirs but SDTPS refused to do so unless a paper to this effect was brought from the court, she said, following his death.
In the same broadcast, the Ruler addressed a separate grievance concerning a stalled construction project. A caller reported that a contractor had failed to complete works for six months, despite a 45-day original completion schedule. Although the Sharjah City Municipality had previously intervened and set a 20-day deadline for the contractor to finish, the caller noted that one week had already elapsed without any resumption of work.
In response to the report of the contractor’s inaction, Sheikh Sultan ordered the Sharjah City Municipality to personally follow up on the matter and enforce a swift resolution for the affected resident. These directives underscore the administration’s commitment to cutting through bureaucratic delays and ensuring that public complaints receive direct, effective follow-up from the relevant government bodies.
