Pakistan Fined for Slow Over-Rate in Tri-Series Final Victory

Pakistan have been hit with a five percent match fee fine for maintaining a slow over-rate during Saturday’s ODI tri-series final against Sri Lanka in Lahore. Match officials determined that the host nation was one over short after accounting for all necessary time allowances. Played against Sri Lanka, in Lahore, on Saturday (October 31), pakistan have been fined five per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate during the final of the ODI tri-series.

In accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct, teams are sanctioned five percent of their match fees for every over failing to meet the required time limit. Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi accepted the penalty and pled guilty to the charge, effectively bypassing the need for a formal hearing.

The ruling followed Pakistan’s dramatic successful chase of 326, marking the joint-highest total ever recorded in an ODI tournament final, which secured them the series title.
